William M. Jackson Jr., 88, Douglassville, passed away March 26, 2010, in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
He was the husband of Mary E. (Roshong) Jackson, and they had observed their 62nd wedding anniversary on March 6.
Born in Doe Run, he was the son of the late William M. Sr. and Martha L. (Knable) Jackson.
He graduated from Warwick High School in 1939.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving two years in the Pacific on the USS Whitman.
A tool and die maker by trade, he worked for the former Doehler-Jarvis in Stowe, retiring in 1983 after 38½ years of service.
He had been a faithful member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Knauertown since 1936. His Masonic memberships include Stichter Lodge 254 F&AM, Pottstown, Raja Shrine, Scottish Rite and Tall Cedars of Lebanon 34. He was also a longtime member of the Patriotic Order Sons of America in Douglassville.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children: Barry L. Jackson and his wife, Janice, of Mickleton, N.J., Cynthia Jackson Foley of Boyertown and Randy C. Jackson and his wife, Ebby, of Rawlins, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Miller of Waynesboro, Va.
Relatives and friends may greet the family April 8, 2010, between 10 and 10:45 a.m. in St. Peter UCC, 1920 Ridge Road (Route 23), Knauertown, and are invited to attend his memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Peter UCC (designated Building Fund), P.O. Box 208, Saint Peters, PA 19470.
